The Atmanirbhar App Innovation Challenge was won by the Koo app. It has almost 3 million downloads across all platforms. Regional languages are what distinguish Koo vs Twitter. When you join up, you can select from a variety of Indian languages. Currently, you can only select a single language; for example, you cannot select both Hindi and English as options. English, Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil Marathi, Bengali, Malayalam, Oriya, Punjabi, Assamese, and Gujarati are all supported by Koo.
The significant figures who have joined the Koo app are largely ministers or members of the present government. Why is the government pressuring people to join the platform and requesting that followers follow them on Koo?
Koo’s popularity skyrocketed after Twitter’s battle with the Indian government over the barring and unblocking of accounts associated with farmer demonstrations. Not just ministers, but other departments such as telecom, information technology, India Post, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, and MyGovIndia, are now available on Koo.
