WhatsApp is more than simply a messaging app. It has become much more than that. It can now link you to a variety of businesses. You may use it to order groceries from JioMart. You may now use WhatsApp to book taxis as well. The ride-hailing firm Uber will soon allow customers in India to schedule a trip straight through the instant messaging app WhatsApp.According to a recent statement by WhatsApp, the company will be rolling out a feature that will allow users to book an Uber trip directly through the app. The service will be accessible across the country beginning this week, making users’ commute smoother.
WhatsApp already has the ability to share Live Position and Location to Contact, which may be used to immediately request a ride for the exact shared location on the messaging platform. This new function may allow Uber to get into the more than 500 million WhatsApp users in India, which is owned by Meta Platforms.
Riders will no longer need to download or use the Uber app separately once this capability is accessible in WhatsApp. They may book a ride instantly through WhatsApp conversation. It should be mentioned that users will receive their trip receipts directly from the messaging platform.
As of now, the new function will be released in Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh, before gradually expanding to other parts of India by next year. The service will be available in English. The business also stated that other Indian languages would be added in the near future.
